Fatal bus crash claims 2 lives, injures 9

Two lives were tragically lost, including a British national and another individual, in a devastating bus accident that occurred in Montenegro. Additionally, nine individuals sustained serious injuries during this unfortunate incident.

The incident took place on Tuesday when a bus, carrying approximately 30 passengers, veered off a steep road around noon, according to local authorities.

Reports from the area indicate that the bus was traveling on a road linking the coastal town of Budva, situated along the Adriatic Sea, with the mountainous inland town of Cetinje.

One of the passengers recounted their experience, stating, “I was listening to music, and everything seemed normal. Then suddenly, there were screams and the sound of shattering glass.”

Cause of accident

The precise cause of the bus accident, which resulted in it descending approximately 15 meters into a ravine, remains unclear. Photographs from the scene depict rescue workers gripping a metal wire as they endeavored to reach the wreckage.

Medical professionals have reported that nine individuals sustained severe injuries, with one individual’s condition considered life-threatening.

Prosecutor Anđela Radovanović informed reporters that the deceased victims included a British national and an unidentified woman.

The local police, utilizing the platform formerly known as Twitter, communicated that the two fatalities occurred at the accident scene, while the injured individuals received immediate assistance in Cetinje. Subsequently, those with serious injuries were transported to a hospital located in the capital of Podgorica.
