The authorities have arrested Roman Ziemian, co-founder of the platform FutureNet, who is wanted in both Poland and South Korea in connection with a massive fraud case. Ziemian, alongside his accomplice Stephan Morgenstern, is accused of orchestrating a $21 million fraud scheme that allegedly defrauded investors through their company.
According to the Montenegrin interior ministry, Ziemian has been under investigation for months, with charges including large-scale fraud, money laundering, theft, and other economic crimes. In South Korea, these offenses carry a potential life sentence.
“He is suspected of committing significant economic crimes, particularly large-scale fraud and violations of the law, for which South Korea imposes life imprisonment,” the ministry stated.
Montenegro has become a hotspot for crypto-related arrests. Prior to Ziemian’s capture, Podgorica also detained Do Kwon, founder of Terraform Labs, who remains in Montenegro while fighting extradition. Kwon is implicated in a cryptocurrency fraud that reportedly cost investors $40 billion.
